3-D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is official, I have moved up in the crochet world and am very excited!  No, literally, I crocheted up!

I liked the look of the baskets on the left, but it led to a site where I had to pay for a pattern.  With millions of websites at my fingertips, I decided to go searching.  I found the pattern in the link below... which just happens to be the same site the pin on the right came from.  Go figure!

The results:

I worked on this for 3-4 hours total, but I am still learning (and not using the right size needle/yarn), so it could go faster.

It isn't perfect, but it is functional. :)

Bad lighting, but this is closer to the actual color.

I finished the last row by doing a slip stitch all the way around except at the handles.  I did as many single crochets as I could fit by wrapping the yarn around the previous row.

I can't wait to see what I crochet next!

Today, I taught myself how to crochet something other than a straight line!!! :D  My namesake pinned this beauty the other day and I snagged it for my new board "Ball and Skeins". ;)

I made the center and then got stuck for a while.

I had to learn a new language in order to complete this pin.  The language of crochet.  

And after messing up 6 times, I finally realized what I was doing wrong.

And this is the result!  Very excited to make lots of flowers.  Maybe someday I can put them all together to make a blanket like this:

Welcome to day 4!!  I finished this one very early this morning (or late last night) as a birthday gift to my mom.  We saw something similar at the arts festival this summer (for $100!!!) made from bamboo yarn.  I said that I could make something similar, and mom put in her order. :)

I had to do a little research on yarn and stitches since I am very inexperienced in crocheting.  My Gram taught me way back when, and I never moved past a single stitch.  Thanks to Youtube, Amazon, and Pinterest, I found what I needed.

This is one that I found - needle in a haystack - and used as an inspiration.

For the yarn, I used Paton's Lace Yarn in Patina .  And here is the link to the stitch I used: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUpzGnj2eH8 .  It took me several weeks, only being able to work in the evenings after the kids were in bed.  I started out a little rocky on the ends, but then got my act together, haha.  It is very versatile and can be worn at least 6 different ways that I can think of.

I had always wanted to be a model of some sort.  And now I am an aspiring photographer.  However, I did not want to be both at the same time.  But when you have no choice, you do what you have to!
